Cerato adds to Kia's 5-star ANCAP collection

Kia's stylish new Cerato sedan and hatch have continued to underscore Kia's uncompromising commitment to safety with the news today that the Australasian New Car Assessment Program has awarded the maximum five stars to both models.

"The 5-star rating for the new Kia Cerato rounds off their small, medium and SUV ranges with all current Kia models in these categories now offering 5-star safety," said ANCAP Chairman, Lauchlan McIntosh. "This is a great achievement by Kia."

Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer Tony Barlow said the outcome of the tests was very pleasing.

"It is what we fully anticipated but it is always nice to have the official stamp of approval," Mr Barlow said. "We have said previously that Kia's intention is to produce all 5-star cars and we will not be stepping away from that position."

The 5-star rating awarded to the Kia Cerato applies to all variants of the model.

In announcing the results of the test, ANCAP said that the Cerato passenger compartment held its shape well in the frontal offset test with pedal and steering displacements well controlled.

Driver and passenger contact with the airbags was stable and all doors remained closed during the crash. Good protection was provided for the driver in both side impact and whiplash tests.

With 5-star safety, 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty and 5-year capped price servicing Kia's range of stylish award-winning cars stands tall in the new car marketplace.
