Kia Motors Global Sales Up 2.6% in January

Kia Motors Corporation announced today its January 2014 global sales figures (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants) for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 216.606 units sold. This figure represents a 2.6% year-on-year increase compared to the same month of 2013.

In January, Kia posted year-on-year sales increases in China (8.5% growth with 40,173 units sold), Europe* (2.7% growth with 39,093 units sold), general markets** (2.4% growth with 40,173 units sold) and North America (2.3% growth with 40,894 units sold).

Kia's bestselling model in overseas markets during January 2014 was the C-segment Cerato (known as 'Forte' or 'K3' in some markets) with 38,104 units sold. The B-segment Rio (known as 'K2' in China) was the second best seller with 36,400 units sold, while the Sportage compact CUV, Optima D-segment sedan and mid-size Sorento CUV followed with 33,315, 18,144 and 13,860 units sold, respectively.
