Kia to host international futsal 'World Final' during FIFA World Cup Brazil™

With football fans across the world gearing up for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ in June, Kia is preparing to host its very own 'World Final', a futsal tournament taking place during the international event.

Eagerly awaiting the kick-off of the world's biggest football festival, 8,238 teams and 41,194 amateur players from 19 countries* around the world took part in preliminary rounds of Kia's 'Champ into the Arena' futsal contest. National tournaments to select finalists were held in May.

With winners from each national tournament confirmed, the top 19 teams from around the world have been invited to play in their very own futsal 'World Final' in Brazil during the FIFA World Cup™ period. The futsal World Final will take place in the city of Salvador. Finalists will also watch a World Cup match as an additional highlight to their once-in-a-lifetime visit.

Originating in South America during the 1930s, futsal is an international version of five-a-side football with its own codified FIFA rules. Teams consist of six players (five starting players and one substitute), and with faster-paced play and unlimited substitutions, each match half lasts just 20 minutes. The sport is played and enjoyed by millions of people around the world.
